One of my favourites, the Letter O opened up oodles of possibilities. Orchestrating some simple ocean-inspired origami was the obvious option, and one I really enjoyed!

LETTER O // letter crafted by me (Shelbyville)
I went with an oceanic theme, with an orange octopus, an oyster, an orca, and a yacht named Orion, all created in origami!
Originally I was conceptualising an owl sitting inside the O, but the orange octopus opened up the more expansive idea of the origami/ocean option.
Once I'd painted the cardboard letter in colours picked out from my palette of Porters Paint pots, I then overlaid it with a few subtle colours/textures with Prismacolor pencils, to give it some added visual oomph.
This textured orange paper (tucked away in my paper stash drawers) turned out to be the perfect material for making the feature octopus! For instructions on how to fold this origami octopus, click to visit here.
A couple of big googly eyes completed this cute little character, and he took up his residence in the centre of the O.
I finished the letter off with a few extra origami embellishments, including the orca, the oyster and the yacht, and ta-daaaa, a letter worthy of an Octonauts aficionado, which was lucky because Elton took home my letter O, and he's a huuuge fan of all things oceanic :)

LETTER O // letters crafted by other mums
Owls, an oasis, octopi, and an occasional orange were the original outputs of us creative mums for the Letter O this month.
