Its byline is FRESH . GREEN . FASHION (Australasia's first eco fashion mag)
It's quite new to newsagent shelves (Issue 3 just came out).
It's straight out of sunny Brisbane.
And it's a wonderful magazine that sits somewhere between Frankie (for content) and Dumbo Feather (for tactility), with a big nod to NZ mag, World Sweet World.
Peppermint magazine is just gorgeous, with its lovely textured visuals, illustrated embellishments, and its very appealing recycled-paper pages (can you pick I'm a graphic designer?). But seriously, this is a sweetly designed mag!
The hand-drawn words 'pretty crafty' grace the cover of Issue 3, and indeed this Peppermint features a good deal of the indie craft scene in Australia, with lots of articles about handmade culture, eco-crafting, and support for lots of local designer-makers. Even Shelbyville got a little mention on the back page, under the 'Market Value' section!
My favourite thing about Peppermint has to be all the little bite-sized bits of info sprinkled throughout sections with delightful titles such as 'Limelight' (show+tell), 'Teenie Greenie', 'Mint Meter Reviews', 'Establishmint', and 'Entertainmint'. And I found the 'Events' section nice + handy too.
It's certainly a magazine worth a look-see, and its popularity attests to its goodness. Issues 1 and 2 sold-out ages ago, so you'll have to be quick to get your copy of Issue 3. Jo (over at Little) was on to Peppermint way back in April - see her blog post here.
The cute Peppermint website has all the info about subscriptions and stockists, so skip over for a visit if your interest has been suitably piqued...
